Piperonyl butoxide,
a safrole class compound, has low or non insecticidal activity
directly. It is primary used as a
synergist to enhance the properties of the pyrethroids, rotenone and
carbamates by blocking the pyrethrin detoxification enzymes in the insect. It
may act also as an antioxidant and as an extender in combination with synergist
activity. It can be mixed with insecticide to treat farm
buildings, food processing, handling & shipping and storage facilities.
